WHO WE ARE
Long Creek Baptist Church
We are a group of dedicated individuals passionate about serving the Lord.
We believe the Holy Spirit draws men and women to Christ and equips believers for personal growth and service to the church. The church’s role is to glorify God and serve those in need. At the end, everyone will experience bodily resurrection and judgment. Only believers will enjoy eternal fellowship with God. We believe that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life on earth and voluntarily paid for our sin by dying on the cross as our substitute.
OUR BELIEFS
Our church accepts The 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.
However, we submit the following statements of faith as simple, easy to understand
commitments to be shared on our church website.
GOD is the creator of the universe and ruler over of all things. He is revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
JESUS is God the Son, co-equal with God, born of a virgin and lived a sinless life. Jesus offered Himself as a sacrifice for the sin of all people by dying on the cross. After he died and was buried for three days, He arose again, demonstrating His power over death and sin.
THE HOLY SPIRIT is co-equal and co-eternal with God the Father and the God the Son, Jesus. He is present and active in the world to make men aware of their sin and need for Jesus as Lord and Savior. He also lives in every believer from the moment of salvation, equipping and empowering them to do the will of God.
THE BIBLE is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is the sole authority in the daily life and practice of a Believer. All of the words of the Bible are God’s words, written through the personality and hands of human authors as they were guided by the Holy Spirit; therefore, the Bible is accurate, true, and trustworthy in all that it says.
PEOPLE are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. Yet, all of us are stained by an attitude of selfishness and disobedience called “sin.” This separates people from God and results in many problems of life.
SALVATION from the eternal punishment of sin is God’s gift to man, obtained by Jesus’s death, burial, and resurrection. No person can obtain salvation by his own goodness or work but only through God’s offer of forgiveness, which must be received by repentance and faith. Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in his or her salvation for eternity. If one has been genuinely saved, he cannot "lose" his salvation. Salvation is maintained by the grace and keeping power of God.
UPON DEATH, we will either exist eternally separated from God by our sin in a literal place God calls Hell or eternally with God through the forgiveness and salvation offered and accepted through Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, in Heaven.
Receiving BAPTISM or the LORD'S SUPPER does not provide salvation for an individual but are expressions of one’s faith. Through Baptism, the believer outwardly identifies with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. Through the Lord’s Supper, believers remember Jesus’s broken body on the cross and His resurrection to eternal life. Jesus commanded his disciples: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matt. 28:19).
